In 2020, the LIHS Student News Team submitted their first news magazine issue into ATOM's 'Front Page' competition. This is an annual competition in which the LIHS News Team found themselves competing against schools all across Australia.
Voted the Best Middle-School News Magazine in All of Australia
Excitedly watching the live announcements in the school library, the team were thrilled to hear that their entry had won the middle-school category and their magazine was officially ranked the best in the whole country. Ms McLoughlin arrived just in time to hear her team's name announced and was so overjoyed, she nearly dropped all fifteen pizzas she had bought for the SNT as a surprise.
Student News captains, Tori Henderson and Chae Conte had a busy week to follow, as they were interviewed by The Illawarra Mercury and ABC Radio. Motivated by their achievements, the Student News Team continue to report on activities and events at Lake Illawarra High School.
