Community Breakfast

Reporters: Tori Henderson (Year 8) and Gracie Francis (Year 8)

Today, the Student News Team were invited to the LIHS Community Breakfast. The breakfast was held at Lake Illawarra High School and was in our brand new STEM room, called the Jubborsay Learning Hub. The Jubborsay Learning Hub was built by our own Construction students in Year 11 and 12 last year, under the guidance of Mr Cohen.

Mrs Willingham ran the breakfast today and had invited important industry representatives from around the Illawarra. Mr Chaseling and Mrs Stephens helped make the morning event happen, as well as our LIHS SRC and Hospitality representatives.

LIHS teachers also spoke at the breakfast and talked about the many fantastic things we do at our school. Mrs Clarke talked about the Harbour Centre and their achievements both in and out of school. Mr Barracosa talked about the new STEM program at school, which is available for students in Years 7 and 8. It was great for important people in our community to learn about our school and student achievements. Mrs Willingham does a great job to help students get jobs, traineeships, work experience, and more for LIHS students. The Community Breakfast is a good way to create and maintain relationships with heads of industry, as they can help connect students to job and training opportunities. Let Mrs Willingham know if you're interested in getting a job, work experience, or a traineeship.

Make sure you watch the video below, showing you how the breakfast was organised!

Thank you to Cafe Els, who catered the event. As well as the hardworking students and staff who make the Community Breakfast possible.
