If you've ever wanted to start working, while still finishing your schooling, SBAT (School-Based Traineeships) could be something that you should look into!
Mrs Willingham, our Careers Adviser, has the following information about school-based traineeships.
School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships allow Years 10, 11 and 12 high school students to commence an apprenticeship or complete a traineeship while still being at school.
School-based apprentices work part-time and undertake the first stage of their formal or off-the-job apprenticeship training. Whereas, school-based trainees work part-time and complete their formal or off-the-job traineeship training by the end of their HSC year.
The benefits to a SBAT is that they gain skills, undertake training that can contribute to their HSC and are paid for their work from an employer. School-based apprentices can commence full-time employment as a 2nd year apprentice from January after their HSC, providing that they have successfully completed the training program while at school.
LIHS has 7 SBATs and is the largest cohort.
